Every detector is an instrument that has a detection function and has a sensing element as a component part at all times.First-Order Logic TheoryTeoria em Lógica de Primeira Ordem
[Definition]∀x (Detector(x) ↔ Instrument(x) ∧ ∃f (DetectionFunction(f) ∧ bearerOf(x,f))) — Steps 1–3: genus + identity-giving function
[Function axiom: DetectionFunction]∀f (DetectionFunction(f) → ∀p (realizedIn(f,p) → DetectionProcess(p)) ∧ ∃p (DetectionProcess(p) ∧ realizedIn(f,p))) — Step 1: ∀ preserves type-type identity; ∃ rules out vacuous functions never realised
[Necessary part: SensingElement]∀x (Detector(x) → ∃p (SensingElement(p) ∧ hasComponentPartAtAllTimes(x,p))) — Step 4: mereological commitment — every instance must have this part

DetectionFunction

DetectionProcess
⊑ MeasurementProcess
Detection is the identity-giving function across all sources - the capability to sense/detect states, substances, or phenomena and produce signals based on this detection. This distinguishes detectors from other instrumentation that may measure, indicate, transmit, or control.
2 Genus DeterminationDeterminação do Gênero
Instrumentbfo:Object (BFO_0000030)
The parent candidates show 'instrument equipment' (CFIHOS) and 'INSTRUMENTATION FUNCTION' (ISO 15926). While 'Instrument' is not explicitly in the already-enriched list, multiple enriched transmitters and indicators reference 'Instrument' as their genus. Detectors are clearly instrumentation devices - assemblies with sensing elements and signal generation capabilities, fitting the Assembly branch as causally unified artifacts.
3 Differentia SpecificaDiferença Específica
∃bearerOf.DetectionFunctionBears a detection function that enables sensing of states, substances, or phenomena and producing signals based on detection.
DetectionFunction is the minimal differentia that distinguishes detectors from other instruments. It captures the core capability mentioned across all sources - the ability to detect and respond to specific phenomena by producing signals.

These parts reflect the two-stage nature of detection described across sources: sensing/detection of phenomena, and signal generation based on that detection.

TransformationTransformação
transduction from physical phenomenon to electrical signal
Detectors transform physical phenomena (pressure, temperature, gas presence, etc.) into electrical signals that can be processed by control systems or other instrumentation.
Disjoint WithDisjunto com
Actuator
C4: Actuator. Detectors sense phenomena and produce signals (input: physical → output: signal) while actuators receive signals and manipulate physical systems (input: signal → output: physical action). These have opposite transformation signatures.
